Dia,

Your daughter should first know that it's very important to understand the legal and correct way to tape a field hockey stick to get the best use and playing time using her specific field hockey stick. Having and using a improperly taped stick will give her more trouble controlling shots, keeping the ball in play and etc... If she wants to play her best, then it is very important that any stick she play's with is properly taped in order for her to get the most out of it and play at her best.

Find and buy a good brand of stick wax and rub it on the blade of the field hockey stick. This is to help the tape bond to the stick easier making it much smoother. This also prevents any water logging which preserves the tape longer.

Start wrapping the tape around the end of the blade potion and start to pull the wrap around at an angle. She will want to create the look of an overlap so that the "groove portion" of the stick face is as smooth as possible. Just be careful to make sure the tape goes on evenly while being flat. Otherwise she will get small lifts/bumps on the stick face which can cause the ball to go in a totally different direction when struck.

Tape around the handle where the grip is most comfortable for her. Begin roughly four to six inches from the top and wrap the tape around very slowly again at an angle. As you make your way up the field hockey stick, most people add extra tape near the top to give their stick a greater thickness for a better grip overall. This will prevent her hands from sliding down the neck of the stick as sweat builds up while maintaining her grip.

Take a field hockey stick ball and rub/roll it along the grain of the tape starting from the heel of the stick all the way to the toe end. Doing this will give her added friction you give to the tape while helping smooth out any rough edges for a cleaner stick face which in turn allows you to make better plays.

Hope this helps and good luck to your daughter. Field hockey is such a fun and amazing game to play when you know what your doing lol. Take care and thanks for stopping by.

I think it is very good. I find the maxi shaped head provides greater surface area and an improved surface area which will suit players a lot who enjoy drag flicking and utilizing the reverse stick dribble technique. You may only see a difference when playing at a higher level of competition but that's my thoughts on this field hockey stick.
